Expert: Duration of hacker attacks on Russian banks jumps 500%

YEKATERINBURG, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- The average duration of DDoS attacks against Russian banks has increased by 500% since February 24, 2022 to 192 minutes, Danila Chezhin, director of products at anti-cyberattack solutions maker Servicepipe, told PRIME on Thursday.

“The growth is thanks to the ttacks on banks that became targets of politically motivated hacktivists. The maximum attack in 2022 lasted 87 hours,” Chezhin said.

Attacks on applications are a particular danger for banks, their share has widened to 60% from 40% since the end of February 2022.

“In order to avoid overloading of their protection means, banks have to apply tough restrictions to access to their resources by geography and close it for all the countries but Russia and some CIS states, which impacts availability of the services for the users in other countries,” the expert said.
